Phonos - The Digital SoundShop
Shareware Version
I.Q. Soft, Inc. - Temecula, California
Phonos - The Digital SoundShop, a Windows 3.1-based multimedia software
application, is an industry breakthrough for audio-editing aficionados.
Phonos allows you, whether audio professional, church sound personnel,
or home computer user, to change forever the way you edit sound and/or
music. Phonos allows you to record your selection directly onto the hard
drive of your computer and, with ease, edit that recording in ways only
dreamt about just a few years ago. Even if you are currently using a DAT
machine, without Phonos, edits still need to be made by splicing tape,
inserting and deleting, all manually. Several other audio editing
applications are currently being sold on the market, which are too expensive,
too confusing, or too basic for individual needs. Prepackaged software with
audio cards is focused for use with that particular sound board. Phonos,
with all it's capabilities, is designed for use on any Windows-compatible
sound board. Phonos is a software package that takes audio-editing a step
further at an affordable price. The dilemma has always been a sacrifice of
quality for cost or vice-versa.
No more!! Phonos breaks through this barrier. I.Q. Soft developed
Phonos to make audio editing an inexpensive, even fun, task, while remaining
on the professional level.
Phonos performs several tasks. Just a few are listed below:
* Recording - You can record (8-bit - Shareware Version) live
directly into your computer from a microphone or
from a previously recorded tape through a line-in
jack on your sound card. Your "WaveFiles"
(recorded selections) can be recorded in either
mono or stereo (mono only for Shareware Version).
* Mixing - You can mix another pre-recorded selection from any
point within the current one. Two examples would be
1) adding a drum roll to a music selection.
2) adding music to a speech.
* Adjusting Volume - You may increase or decrease the volume of
the current selection.
* Echoing - You can also add an echo, or reverb effect.
* Undoing Changes - You may easily revert back to a previous
edit. You may make up to three edits without
disturbing your original recording.
* Zooming - You may easily zoom-in on pre-defined marked areas,
so that you might remove "pops", glitches, or any
other audio scars.
A Phonos exclusive incorporates the concept of "ClipAreas" and
"ClipFiles". ClipAreas are "pieces" of your recorded selections that you
name and save in related groups, or ClipFiles. These ClipAreas can be
inserted, mixed, and deleted from any combination of pre-recorded
selections. They, themselves, can even be edited! This gives you the
incredible ability to delete those irritating coughs, add background music,
or simply enhance a recording. Phonos' Shareware Version allows you to
create ClipAreas, however, does not allow them to be saved into ClipFiles.
Phonos will change the way you edit audio forever!!
If you have or are contemplating using an IBM-compatible, multimedia PC,
and have the need for a more efficient, cost-effective way of editing sound,
Phonos is for you. Phonos will make any recorded audio-editing task a
pleasure to handle. Phonos requirements are as follows:
* IBM Compatible 386-25Mhz (minimum); 386-40Mhz or higher recommended
* VGA (640 x 480) monitor (256 color recommended)
* Windows 3.1
* DOS 5.0 or higher
* any Windows compatible multimedia sound card i.e. Sound Blaster
* Microsoft Mouse or similar pointing device
* 4MB RAM (6MB or more recommended)
* 120MB free hard drive space (recommended)
